The Real Reason We Leave Value on the Table—and How to Claim It

When You Find Yourself Hesitating

Have you ever bought something you were sure you'd use… but never did?

Maybe your health changed. Or your financial situation shifted. Or you just got busy. Sometimes, a purchase feels like a no-brainer—and yet it sits untouched. Other times, you wonder if you can still get some value from it… even if the timing or energy isn’t quite right.

This happens not just with things we buy, but also when we clean out our closets. "Should I keep this? Or let it go?" You’re weighing not just the object, but the potential satisfaction. The hope that one day, it might still bring you joy.

In either case, the same question arises: Will I get the value I hoped for? And what determines that? Is it your current circumstances? The usefulness or quality of what you purchased?

Let me share a personal story.

The Coaching Package That Sat Unopened

One day, I purchased a fairly large coaching package. It wasn’t an impulsive buy—it felt like a calculated decision after a long stretch of inner conflict. I was feeling stagnant. Heavy. Frustrated.

On paper, the package was everything I thought I needed: structure, support, tools, mindset work. And yet… I didn’t open the materials right away.

Why?

Because of an old belief: If I don’t have time to study 100% of the material, I won’t get the value from it. I was secretly hoping the "perfect time" would just appear. I wanted an external solution for my internal confusion.

But behind all of that? Fear. Fear that I would invest my time and energy into something that might not "work." Fear that unless doing everything right, I might be left with no tangible change.

The Turning Point

Eventually, I realized something: It wasn’t about the circumstances or timing. It was about my desire.

The difference between whether we use something—or let it collect dust—isn’t usually the product or the situation. It’s our desire to get the value out of it.

And even deeper than desire… is trust. Do I choose to trust that I’m ready despite the circumstances? Do I choose to trust that the process will give me something valuable—even if it’s not what I expected?

It’s a paradox: If you want to learn to drive a car, you have to drive the car. You can’t learn by just sitting in a parked one.

And yet, many of us wait—hoping the "perfect" timing will arrive. Or buying the "perfect" product. But true transformation only happens when you follow your desire and choose to trust to extract the value.Yes, that means you always have the power to claim the value, if you choose.

What If Failure Isn’t Failure?

We’re taught that failure is a loss. But what if even failure holds value?

What if disappointment doesn’t mean you were wrong—but that you gained insight for the next step?

You get to decide: What learning will I extract from this experience? How will I apply it and grow, no matter the outcome?

The Cost of Staying Still

If you’ve been feeling the desire to change—maybe to enrich your life, find more peace, or finally feel aligned—but you haven’t acted because you’re afraid of how hard it might be, or of wasting time, energy, or money…

Let’s be honest.

Not doing the hard thing often feels just as uncomfortable. But only one of those paths gets you to the other side.

Making a change may feel scary. But staying in the same place—stuck in fear, confusion, or scarcity—can quietly drain your energy even more.

Both choices require courage. But only one brings you closer to your truest self.

Let Desire Lead

When you're caught in the middle of conflicting thoughts, come back to your deepest desire.

Not the superficial wish—compromised by convenience—but the profound yearning beneath it. The longing to feel alive. To feel free to show up as your true self. To feel connected, purposeful, and whole.

Let yourself focus on that desire. Because what you focus on… expands.

When your focus is clear, desire becomes more powerful than fear. Even when your willpower fades or discipline wavers, desire will carry you.

Discomfort or doubt will still arise—that’s how we’re wired biologically. But as you align your mind with your soul’s longing, you outgrow the discomfort. You become more resilient in the face of hardship, instead of avoiding it.

Where to Begin

If this resonates with you—if you’ve been sitting on something your soul already said yes to—maybe now is the time to open the door.

And you don’t need the perfect plan or perfect timing. You need willingness to stay true to your true desire and curiosity—to meet the version of you that’s waiting on the other side.

If you feel that quiet pull—even if you don’t feel “ready”—honor it. The fulfillment is already there—sometimes hidden in plain sight. You simply need to learn how to see it, how to shift toward it, and how to receive it.
